Embracing The Journey
Studying abroad has long been an aspiration of mine. From the earliest moments of my academic journey, I yearned for the opportunity to immerse myself in a different culture and connect with professionals from around the globe. For me, studying abroad wasn’t merely about obtaining a degree; it was about fostering relationships during the span of one year or eighteen months that would last a lifetime. I actively sought out programs that would allow me to work while studying, enabling me to gain firsthand experience in the job market upon graduation. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found a comprehensive package encompassing a Master’s degree, specifically the Global MBA program offered by Uniinettuno University and the Berlin School of Business and Innovation (BSBI).
Finding The Right Program
After going through the curriculum for this program I was happy to see that it aligns perfectly with my goals the courses are designed to give a robust knowledge and understanding of global business practices, strategic management, project management, cross-cultural management, financial management, and leadership skills. Another key reason why I selected this program was the flexibility to study allowing me to work while studying this would give me the chance to gain practical experience in the job market and would help me bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and how it is applied in the real world. Additionally, the Global MBA offers an international exchange pathway I have the opportunity to study in Berlin, one of Europe’s most dynamic and vibrant cities known for its rich history, and the thriving business environment for startups and businesses in general was appealing. I knew for a fact that studying would not only enhance my academic experience but also offer numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The Journey Begins
Seven months into this transition from my dreams to my reality, I have come to realize that this program has unveiled strengths and courage within me that I didn’t know existed. Balancing academic responsibilities, classes, numerous assignments, and work commitments, and still managing to maintain a social life as a student feels like a heroic feat. Yet, I continually remind myself of the initial goal of pursuing my master’s degree. Witnessing growth and progress at every stage serves as my greatest source of motivation, and I eagerly anticipate the wonders that the next 11 months will bring.
Challenges of an MBA Student/Challenges of An International Student
For the first few months into my program whenever I met anyone my first words “¿Hablas inglés?” my Spanish is not the best but I have included this as one of my goals before I finish my program to learn Spanish, German, and Italian, don’t get me started on Catalan that’s a different level. The Global MBA program is flexible but also demanding, each of the courses presents its own set of challenges, pushing me to expand my knowledge and think critically about complex business issues, and the professors gracing our student portal with lots of assignments and deadlines at the end of the courses. Well, this comes with being a Global MBA Student.
When it gets very challenging, I am lucky to have supportive professors and classmates. The faculty at Uninettuno University and BSBI are not only great experts in their respective fields but also genuinely invested in the success of their students. They provide guidance, and encouragement, listening to all our millions of questions and giving constructive feedback, which has been very helpful in navigating the academic challenges with confidence.
Also, collaborating with my classmates from diverse backgrounds has been an amazing experience so far, apart from enjoying different cultural dishes from Egypt, India, Pakistan, Iran, Palestine etc. I have learned a lot about these countries and their economy and this has enriched my learning experience as we exchange ideas and perspectives on different topics, this has broadened my understanding of global business practices. The mutual support among students has created a positive and motivating learning environment so far.
Overcoming Challenges with Resilience.
While the journey has been incredibly rewarding, it has not been without its challenges. Balancing academic responsibilities, work commitments, and maintaining a social life can be overwhelming at times. There have been moments of self-doubt, the “What am I doing phase for my life” and stress in general from trying so to meet deadlines, but these challenges have also provided opportunities for growth and self-discovery.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of resilience. Studying abroad has pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to confront and overcome various obstacles. It has taught me to embrace uncertainty, adapt to new situations, and find creative solutions to problems. These experiences have strengthened my character and equipped me with valuable life skills that will benefit me in both my personal and professional endeavors.
Anticipating the Future
As I reflect on the past seven months, of living out my dream I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. The journey of studying abroad has already exceeded my expectations, and I am excited about what the next 11 months will bring. I am confident that the experiences and knowledge gained during this program will shape my future and open doors to exciting opportunities.
I am eager to continue my academic journey and delve deeper into the remaining courses of the Global MBA program “but without assignments” Who am I kidding my professors are very generous. I am also excited about the prospect of further exploring Berlin and immersing myself in its vibrant culture. Additionally, I look forward to building on the professional connections I have made and leveraging the skills and experiences gained during my time abroad.
I will stop typing now, but before I do and you proceed to the next blog post I just want to end this session with a quote by Napoleon Hill that has helped at every point in my life. “The only limitation you have is the one you set for yourself” Studying abroad has been a transformative experience that has enriched my academic, professional, and personal life. It has provided me with the opportunity to immerse myself in a different culture, connect with professionals from around the globe, and gain practical experience in the job market. This has been one of my major goals in life and I am so happy that this journey has unveiled strengths and courage within me that I didn’t know existed, and it has taught me valuable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of embracing new experiences. As I continue on this path, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the future, knowing that the experiences and relationships formed during my time abroad will last a lifetime. Now move to the next blog post.
Yours Sincerely
